This box is great for keeping patio items clean and dry. I was pleasantly surprised at how much it holds. 2 folding chairs, 1 folding rocker, 2 large swing cushions, a full size umbrella, a hammock swing and 2 pillows. The metal rods add a good amount of stability to each side. Assembly was fairly straightforward but it's a bit tricky installing the lid. I found a video which was a very helpful step by step instructional. I agree with other reviews which stated you need 2 people to put this box together. It is not possible to hold one side while attaching another. It is not 100% airtight. The lid does not overlap the bottom at all, but that does not seem to impact the effect of rain on the contents. However, when the top is wet after rain, I learned to squeegee off the water before opening the box. Otherwise, your contents will get wet. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. This box surprised me with how simple it was to put together. Just need a Phillips screwdriver to put in 8 screws that hold the really strong gas shocks for the lid.I sat on it and it flexed a little, but nothing concerning. The lid cushion is a nice touch to keep it comfy. The 3 number combo lock was also a surprise to be included with the purchase. It is a little tricky to get it on at first, but no big deal.We easily fit 8 folding camping chairs, and our kids lawn toys to clear up our patio clutter. And now we have added seating on our patio!Nearly impossible to put together. The prongs for the lid didn’t fit, took a hammer to get one in and one of them broke, shouldn’t be so difficult to assemble! There is no way to contact the company for a replacement lid, this is frustrating considering how hard it was to put the rest of the container together.Hated everything. The poor instructions, the unit itself, parts did not align, no way it could be used as a sitting area safely. Just really poor all around.Anybody with a back yard could use a nice outdoor storage box that you sit on. I have had a few outdoor benches with storage under. While this deck box is not the best, but it is still a very nice box. When I got the package in, I was surprised how light and small it was. The assembly is very easy. You just need to pay attention at the orientation of each part. If you reverse the left and right panel, it is rather difficult to disassemble. The instruction is simple to the point with nice diagrams. You should be able to do everything without help, except of snapping the door latch in place. I did it all by myself, but I could have used a little help on the door latch part. The box is not the sturdies I have had, but should be enough to last a long time. Just don't put heavy weight on top of the box. The lock that comes with the box is a total joke. Mine did not work with the default code 000. I really don't need a lock for the box. However, out of curiosity, I easily crack the lock in less than 15 minutes. I was able to reset the code following the instruction. The lock is very weak. I could probably pry the lock open with just a pair of cheap open end wrenches. If you do need a lock, just get yourself another lock. The door has two dampers for the support. That's a nice touch. The dampers keeps the box open even under moderately windy condition, and it won't slam down on your fingers accidentally. Well, the door is so light, it won't hurt you anyway. What I like about this deck box most is the capacity. It hold a lot of stuff. I also like the rain protection it provides, but you have to be careful and not place this box too low to the ground. Water can get in from the bottom easily it sits too low. I happened to have an old treated wood platform that fits under the box quite well. Overall, I think it is a nice box. The price is a little on the high side though.I put this together by myself with a drill and a hammer.did take longer than I expected, but only at the end.The bottom and sides and everything clipped together super easy, went into the base and stayed no problem. The hinges for the lid were eaven easy to install by myself. My issue was the three clips on the back to hold the lid in place. I had a time with those. I finally got aggravated enough I just lined them up, held them in place with my leg and banged the inside with a hammer to get them into position. The lock comes with it and is easy to set/reset with a combination of your own choosing. The holes for the lock are lined up together but the space is so small it does take a little wiggling to get the lock in place. The handles for lifting are just holes, so won't be full weather protection from the elements or bugs. So I would only keep outside things in it, or otherwise put items in a sealed tote of their own to protect against bugs etc. But for us, I don't have an outbuilding or shed, so this helps put up my gardening tools without taking up part of a room in my house.I'm 160lbs and I was able to sit on top. The cushion in thin and just foam inside a water resistant cover. It has nothing attaching it to the chest, so something should be on top of it or it be taken off on windy days. Some optional velcro connectors would be a good idea to start including with this set up in case people need the extra secureness.
