I had been searching for couch pillow covers for a long time - since buying a couch with a nondescript color name that the salesperson swore was a 'taupe'- but upon delivery, I discovered was actually a weird sage or moss green! (It also went with nothing I own.) The company wouldn't take the couch back, either. So, upon seeing I was stuck with this couch, I realized the only way to make this work (without redecorating in colors I don't even like) was to change out a print above the couch (that drew attention to the weird green), and find neutral couch pillows that would 'play nice' with the other colors in the room. I'm not an interior decorator, or an artist who understands the intricacies of the color wheel (and today's unusual shades), so this involved a lot of trial and error. I settled on dark navy blue and white (which I had already for smaller oblong lumbar and throw pillows), but decided to take a chance on these velvet pillow covers, in cream. (I loved the pattern, but there was no pure white available.)They are gorgeous! Not only are they a lovely velvet, with a very attractive stitching pattern on the front, but they beautifully 'plumped up' my 20x20" pillows (that were a bad shade of depressing neutral, with good filling). For the cost of these pillow covers, I basically got 'new pillows' that look far nicer than those same pillows looked just minutes before. The slightly smaller size (18" square) actually looks a lot better on my small couch than the 20" square pillows did (especially since they plumped up so nicely). And ordering inserts one size smaller than your pillows (eg, 18" square inserts for 20" square pillows) is apparently recommended if you want your couch pillows plumper (vs slouchier). The cream is a lovely, slightly yellowish hue. I wasn't sure it would work initially, but it actually added beautiful interest and depth to the overall ensemble. (I later found in an online article that 'layering neutrals' - white, cream, taupe, etc. - is a lovely way to decorate with sage green.)If you, too, have a 'problem color couch' or 'problem color/pattern couch pillows' - look no further! These pillow inserts could help solve your decorating dilemmas quickly and beautifully, too. These solid color pillows have a lovely stitching pattern that adds visual interest over just plain solid color pillows, and 'dress up' the couch. They also add a varied texture to the couch without being 'too busy,' as many patterns are, and without clashing, say, with a print above the couch. Instead, they enhance it. Most importantly, these cream couch pillow covers beautifully accentuate my couch in such a way that one now oohs and aahs over the lovely ensemble - and stops noticing that the couch is a weird green! The trick to inserting couch pillows into these (or any) pillow inserts is to carefully fold your pillow in half; make sure you get it correctly situated into the corners and bottom of the pillow cover on the one side; then 'unfold' and do the other side; then do the top. It took a bit of careful rearranging (and taking care to not stretch the zipper out of position) to make sure everything lined up. But they now look like a pair of brand-new, high-end, luxurious couch pillows that were purchased this way. The material is of a good thickness, so no pattern shows through. My original pillows were light color with a light pattern, though, so I don't know if a wild, dark/bright pattern could possibly show through a very light shade. All I know is that these were absolutely perfect for me.One initial concern I had was that I easily unzipped the first empty couch pillow cover - but the other wouldn't initially unzip. I thought the zipper might be broken. I very gently tried to coax it open a few more times, and it finally opened (albeit a bit hesitantly). I then zipped it back and forth a few times, and it seemed OK, so I carefully inserted the second pillow. It zipped up OK. I can't say how durable they are, since I just got them. But I hope they hold up well for years to come. All in all, these are lovely couch pillow covers, at a good price! I'm very happy with my purchase.
